Qualifications

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time, permanent, veterinary surgeon; to join us in our brand-new purpose-built rabbit, feline and exotics practice in Cardiff!

About the practice.

Origin Vets Clinic is an Independent practice with mixed feline, rabbit and exotic caseload.

Origin vet’s clinic is located just east of Cardiff City Centre with excellent links to the M4 and with excellent public transport access.

The clinic itself is purpose built and designed with careful consideration for keeping prey/predator species separate, reducing fear and stress in our patients (and clients). We have a green heart and strive to be mindful of our environmental impact.

Our small team is made up of dedicated staff, with additional qualifications/advanced practitioner status in exotics, anaesthesia and emergency and critical care. We are a supportive and progressive team and actively encourage career development.

We pride ourselves on being a friendly, patient-centric clinic, regularly assessing what we do, and adapting to make improvements for animal welfare.

We are RWAF Gold Rabbit and ISFM Gold Cat status

About the role.

We are looking for a highly motivated veterinary surgeon with prior feline , rabbit and exotic medicine and surgical experience, to join our team.

The position will include a mix of consulting and surgery. There will be continuous support from the whole team, with opportunity for automonous clinical freedom. We are a popular EMS placement and so the right candidate will be willing to support our weekly vet students too.

We have a wonderful client base and would love a kind , fun and compassionate vet to join our team in order to continue our heartfelt work within our pet community.

Facilities:

2 x operating theaters

Imaging suite

Laboratory

Separate prey and predator, reptile and bird wards and isolation facilities

3 x consulting rooms (one being a quiet family room)

Digital DR X-ray (also portable)

Digital DR dental X-ray (also portable) with full dental equipment

Ultrasound (also portable for home visits)

Cube 4 K-laser

Ventilator

Multimodal monitoring equipment including ECG and capnography,

We use Idexx Animana computer system and have external HR support via Penninsula

About the candidate

  • Must fully qualified MRCVS
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK (we are not able to sponsor at this time)
  • Hold a full driver’s license
  • Be confident and competent with basic neutering, lump removals and dentistry.
  • Be confident and competent at managing an exotic caseload (for new graduates this will be fully supported in your vetgdp)
  • A caring enthusiastic, team player with a passion for veterinary care and education
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • CPD compliant
  • Previous OOH experience is desirable (but not essential)
  • Ability to work with and teach veterinary students

40 hours Full time

Starting Package from £35,000 DOE
