Job Description

Introduction

Our client is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their collaborative team across three practices in Merthyr Tydfil, Mountain Ash, and Aberdare. With a strong clinical team including a certificate holder in surgery and dentistry, this opportunity offers an exciting and varied caseload with excellent support. The practices are based in beautiful South Wales and provide a blend of ECC and routine first opinion cases in well-equipped settings.

Working Hours / Rota

This is a permanent full-time position, though part-time applications and flexible working patterns are welcome. The role is shared across the Merthyr Tydfil, Mountain Ash, and Aberdare sites, offering flexibility and variety in your working environment.

Role Description

You will be delivering high standards of clinical care in both medicine and surgery, with support from a knowledgeable and engaged team. The Merthyr Tydfil branch handles a high volume of ECC cases and benefits from collaboration with VVS for ultrasound support. The role includes mentoring junior team members, contributing to clinical development, and helping maintain a positive, high-performing team dynamic. You will work closely with a skilled nursing team who are actively involved in schedule 3 procedures.

Team Size

The team includes multiple Veterinary Surgeons, a surgery and dentistry certificate holder, and experienced RVNs, all supported by a dedicated client care team. Collaboration and development are central to the practice’s ethos.

Practice Details

Merthyr Tydfil is a large first opinion practice with three consult rooms, an operating theatre, and an imaging room. It handles a wide variety of cases, including ECC. Mountain Ash is centrally located between the other two branches and benefits from close support. These purpose-built practices support modern diagnostics and efficient clinical workflows.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with broad experience across both medicine and surgery. A team-focused mindset, confidence in clinical decision-making, and a desire to contribute to high standards of care are essential. Experience mentoring and collaborating with nurses on schedule 3 procedures will be advantageous.
