Job summary

SRUC’s Aberdeen Campus invites applications for a Technical Support Officer. You will support teaching and research in veterinary skills, operate and maintain specialist equipment, and guide staff and students in technical tasks.

Applicants should have SCQF Level 8+ or equivalent, with desirable HND in related fields. The role offers hybrid working options, generous learning opportunities, and a focus on practical problem solving across disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Educated to SCQF Level 8 or above or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Desirable: Higher National Diploma in an animal, veterinary, laboratory, or related discipline.
  • Experience in technical support within veterinary/science education environments.

Responsibilities

  • Operate specialist machinery and equipment and maintain workshop areas.
  • Record and report data accurately and in line with procedures.
  • Provide technical instruction and guidance to staff and students.
  • Troubleshoot faults and liaise with IT for related issues.
  • Carry out maintenance and servicing following set instructions.
  • Ensure safe, compliant work environment and procure supplies as needed.
  • Support teaching/research activities and contribute to problem solving.
  • Engage in professional development and adapt to changing requirements.
