Job summary

Mears Group is recruiting for a Multi-skilled operative in Birmingham to carry out void and planned works across social housing properties. You will handle multi-trade repairs, adapt to differing tasks, and deliver high-quality workmanship with a focus on safety and resident satisfaction.

The role offers a permanent, full-time contract with an annual salary up to £37,000 plus a company van and fuel card, plus opportunities for overtime and optional out-of-hours call rota.

Qualifications

• Experience in domestic repairs across multiple trades (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating).
• Full UK driving licence required.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent customer service skills, including work in occupied homes.
• Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day repairs across void and planned works social housing properties.
• Replace or repair skirting boards, architraves, and internal doors.
• Install and adjust kitchen units, worktops, and cupboard doors.
• Identify and fix minor plumbing issues such as leaks and blocked sinks.
• Carry out plastering, tiling, and decorating to a professional finish.
