Job summary

The Ellis Group Architects Pty seeks a hands-on Rulebook Configuration Specialist to translate underwriting rules and pricing logic into maintainable Rulebook configurations. You will collaborate with Product, Underwriting, BA, Testing and Delivery teams to drive delivery with increasing independence.

Responsibilities include configuring and maintaining Rulebook products and data definitions, performing configuration testing, and supporting releases and BAU maintenance, while building expertise

Qualifications

• Hands-on Rulebook configurator translating business requirements into maintainable configurations.
• Experience translating underwriting rules and pricing logic into configurations.
• Ability to support product enhancements, testing, releases, and BAU improvements.

Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain Rulebook products, forms, data definitions, matrices, reference data and RuleSets.
• Translate approved business and functional requirements into clear, maintainable configuration changes.
• Support product enhancements, rate changes, defect fixes, release activity and BAU maintenance.
• Work with Product Managers, Underwriters, Business Analysts and Lead Configurators to clarify requirements and expected outcomes.
• Perform configuration testing, simulation, regression support and validation against agreed acceptance criteria.
• Investigate assigned configuration issues, gather evidence and support root-cause analysis and resolution.Maintain configuration documentation, traceability records, test evidence and change notes.
• Contribute to SOPs, knowledge articles, onboarding material and reusable configuration approaches.
• Identify practical opportunities to improve configuration quality, consistency and delivery efficiency.

About the Role

Role summary This role is a hands-on Rulebook configurator supporting the product delivery, translating defined business requirements, underwriting rules, and pricing logic into maintainable Rulebook configurations. The role supports product enhancements, defect resolution, testing, release activities, and BAU improvements, while developing a strong understanding of insurance products, underwriting workflows, pricing structures, and quote journeys. Working collaboratively with Product, Underwriting, Business Analysis, Testing, Delivery, and technical teams, the configurator will build increasing independence through hands-on delivery experience, structured learning, and ongoing feedback.
