Job description

Verification Engineer

Based in Bristol

Salary up to £57,000

If you're the sort of engineer who wants to see your verification strategy actually catch the fault before it reaches flight test, this one's worth a proper look.

You'll be joining a Software and Electronics Hardware team working on electric controller products for aerospace and training and simulation systems, electro-mechanical and mechatronic hardware that has to be right first time. You'll take ownership of verification and validation activity for airborne electronic hardware, working alongside systems, safety, mechanical and simulation disciplines rather than in a silo.

This isn't a box-ticking QA role. You'll be shaping the V&V strategy itself, not just executing someone else's test plan, and there's real scope to lead work packages and sub-teams as the role beds in.

Eligibility, please read before applying

This role requires UK citizenship due to the nature of the programmes involved. If you don't hold UK citizenship, we won't be able to progress your application, so please don't spend time on it.

What you'll be doing
  • Planning, executing and documenting hardware verification activity for airborne electronic hardware
  • Defining the verification and validation strategy for electronic controllers on electromechanical aerospace systems
  • Working with the verification lead, project delivery manager and other technical disciplines to keep verification aligned with the wider programme
  • Applying design assurance practices under DO-254, DO-178 and ARP 4754
What you'll need, essential
  • An engineering degree with an electronics bias, or demonstrable equivalent experience
  • Hands-on product verification experience on aerospace, marine, space, nuclear or automotive projects
  • Practical experience with Speedgoat, Beckhoff or LabVIEW test environments
  • Working understanding of power electronics, communication electronics or motor drive design using FPGA-based systems
  • Comfortable working across multiple disciplines and managing several verification activities at once
What would help, desirable
  • Experience deriving and specifying hardware requirements
  • Applied knowledge of environmental qualification, DO-160G in particular
  • Exposure to Polarion or DOORs for requirements management
  • MATLAB/Simulink experience in a Model Based Design environment
