Job summary

AWD online is recruiting a Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester for our busy workshop in Belper. You will maintain and repair a varied fleet of cars, minibus and light vehicles to manufacturer and DVSA standards, and carry out MOT testing for Class IV, V and VII where authorised.

You should hold City & Guilds Level 2 or NVQ2, a Category B licence, and be eligible to undergo MOT training within six months. The role is full-time, 37 hours weekly, with a competitive package including a market supplement.

Qualifications

• Previous motor vehicle industry experience and knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures.
• Experience with alternatively fuelled vehicles and vehicle conversion should be demonstrated.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with diagnostic equipment proficiency.
• Ability to manage workload, follow procedures and maintain records.
• Knowledge of MOT preparation requirements and relevant regulations.
• Confident IT and communication skills with safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair a varied fleet to DVSA specs and manufacturer standards.
• Carry out MOT testing of Class IV, V and VII vehicles where authorised.
• Diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment and interpret CAN bus data.
• Inspect and service specialist systems including HVAC, lifting and electronics where qualified.
• Complete worksheets, maintenance records and fleet management entries.
• Organise workload, meet timescales and adhere to safety and compliance policies.
