Job summary

Derbyshire County Council is inviting a motivated Light Vehicle Motor Mechanic and MOT Tester to join the County Transport team at Ambergate Workshops. You will maintain and repair a variety of vehicles, with MOT testing responsibilities and a commitment to quality maintenance standards.

The role requires NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent), a valid B category driving licence and MOT Class 4/7 certification (or eligibility for training). Competitive salary and market supplements apply.

Qualifications

• Minimum of an NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in vehicle maintenance and repair operations.
• Valid full driving licence with a minimum of B category.
• Holding certification for MOT testing in Class 4 and 7 is essential; eligible for MOT training if needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair a diverse fleet of vehicles including cars, minibuses, light goods vehicles, trailers and plant.
• Workshop based role; may attend vehicles at roadside or customer depots when required.
• Issuance of a personal tool kit; PPE and branded workwear; workshop equipped with specialist tools and up-to-date diagnostic equipment.
