Job description

Job Title – Vehicle Technician – Car Rental Company

Job Location – Leicester/Hybrid

Salary – £40k

The role is hybrid, 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home.

In the role you will oversee day-to-day line management of engineering and damage allocation resource.

You will be the escalation point of contact for engineering queries and will build and hold relationships with repair agents.

Another part of the role is to negotiate repair costs and repair methods.

They need you to use internal and manufacturer approved repair methods to review and audit assessments for authority in a cost-effective and timely manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage wreck vehicle valuations and salvage categorisation
  • To assist in achieving minimal vehicle off road time, whilst ensuring all necessary repairs have been carried out on our fleet to the highest safety standards
  • Understand the approved repairer agreement and repair standard
  • Liaising with repairs to authorise vehicles off road
  • Provide out-the-box solutions to assist reduction of vehicle off-road time
  • Assist and take ownership of sourcing parts for vehicles when back ordered parts are not available
  • Challenge warranty claims with franchise dealers
  • Liaising with manufacturers
  • Follow up repairs to repair completion
  • Audit reporting
  • Repairer site visits, vehicle inspections / working on site
  • The ability to build relationships with suppliers to gain a competitive advantage
  • Arrange independent inspections for failure allegation including mechanical and fire cases

Key skills required:

  • Up to date ATA VDA, IAEA, AQP
  • Audatex Certification
  • NVQ qualified in a BS10125 Bodyshop
  • Insurance claims experience
  • PC literate with good administrative skills
  • Willingness to take increased ownership and responsibility when necessary
  • Accuracy and high attention to detail
  • Motor claims knowledge and understanding of insurance process
