Job summary

Sinclair Group, a Wales-based Skoda retailer in Newport, seeks a Vehicle Technician to diagnose, repair and service the full range of Brand products. You will also conduct road tests and mentor apprentices as required, contributing to high standards of workmanship.

The ideal candidate has NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Repair or equivalent and strong communication skills to liaise with colleagues and customers. Training and career progression are a key focus at Sinclair Group.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and service the full range of Brand products.
• Undertake vehicle road testing and ensure proper parts handling and storage.
• Coach and mentor apprentices as required.

Job description

Working for a Skoda retailer as a Technician, you are in a great position to build your career and take full advantage of the excellent training and career paths we have on offer. As a Technician working within the workshop you will diagnosis, repair and service of the full range of Brand products. You will also undertake vehicle road testing and will be responsible for ensuring vehicle parts are handled and stored appropriately. A team player, strong communicator, and a motivator, you will be able to professionally coach and mentor apprentices as required.

• Have completed an NVQ Level 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Repair or equivalent NVQ, BTEC or City & Guilds qualifications.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with colleagues within the Retailer and customers to explain complex repairs.
• Your dedication to maintaining your product knowledge, brand and industry knowledge by accepting mentoring and development opportunities.
• Checking level and quality of work through use of diagnostic equipment, self-quality checking and road testing of vehicles after the work has been carried out.

The ideal applicant will have some previous history of working in a retailer environment and experienced coaching and mentoring junior or less experienced team members. Practical knowledge of working on electric vehicles is desirable.
