We are looking to appoint Light Vehicle Maintenance Technicians (Car Mechanics) to join our expert Cargiant Workshop Team.
Job Description
As a Vehicle Technician, you will be responsible for tasks and activities such as:
- Performing skilled mechanical repairs on motor vehicles, ranging from Quality Control/MOT failures to major component overhauls and replacements
- Verifying vehicle serviceability by conducting road tests, adjusting controls and systems, and identifying and recording any applicable faults
- Participating in and/or taking ownership of repair diagnosis, troubleshooting, and solution development
- Being willing to carry out less advanced, semi-skilled jobs as required by business needs
- Maintaining vehicle job records and job cards daily in line with company systems and procedures
- Completing parts order forms, keeping a log of and collecting parts from the relevant department, and liaising with management regarding timely and effective ordering
- Assisting with other workshop tasks as instructed by management, and cooperating with other Workshop Team Members
- Taking part in and adapting to any required training
- Moving vehicles within the workshop site efficiently and professionally, adhering to the Highway Code and Cargiant’s Health and Safety guidelines
- Adhering to environmental disposal practices and regulations
Duties/Responsibilities
- Performing the above tasks in a timely manner using relevant workshop equipment and your own tools, as necessary, in line with vehicle-specific job cards
- Delivering high-quality repair outcomes in accordance with Cargiant’s stringent standards
- Communicating and consulting with management regarding any job additions, issues, or snags
- Where applicable, reporting any additional vehicle faults found to managers and undertaking ad hoc duties as requested
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and workmanship in line with Health and Safety guidelines and company policies
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Ensuring that the working environment is safe for yourself and others
- Reporting all accidents and near misses to management
- Identifying and reporting potential hazards or safety issues
- Handling hazardous substances in compliance with relevant Health and Safety regulations
- Using PPE correctly where required
- Acting in accordance with the standards set out in the Health and Safety Manual and Company Handbook
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent certification/proven experience) in skilled vehicle mechanics
- A full and valid driving licence
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to perform ad hoc duties in a workshop-based environment
- Ability to work outdoors, with a flexible approach to work
