Job summary

Auto Skills UK is seeking a Prep Technician / Vehicle Technician in Ipswich. The role involves preparing vehicles to a high standard, performing servicing, maintenance and repairs, and ensuring safe handover to customers in a busy dealership environment.

PREP TECHNICIAN / VEHICLE TECHNICIAN

THE ROLE

As a Prep Technician, you will be responsible for preparing vehicles to a high standard, ensuring they are safe, reliable and ready for sale or customer handover.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out vehicle preparation work efficiently and to a high standard
  • Completing routine servicing and maintenance
  • Carrying out mechanical repairs where required
  • Identifying and rectifying mechanical and electrical faults
  • Completing vehicle inspections and reporting any additional work required
  • Preparing vehicles to meet manufacturer and dealership standards
  • Using diagnostic equipment where necessary
  • Ensuring all work is completed within agreed timescales
  • Accurately completing job cards and workshop documentation
  • Working in line with manufacturer guidelines and Health & Safety standards
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment
  • Working closely with the wider workshop and aftersales team
ABOUT YOU

We're looking for an Prep Technician / Vehicle Technician / Vehicle Mechanic with:

  • Previous experience working within an automotive workshop environment
  • A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent
  • Strong servicing, maintenance and repair skills
  • The ability to work efficiently in a busy workshop environment
  • Good mechanical knowledge and fault-finding ability
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A positive and proactive attitude
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A willingness to continue developing your technical knowledge
  • A full UK Driving Licence
  • Experience within a main dealership environment would be advantageous, although strong independent garage or automotive workshop experience will also be considered.
