Job summary

Crem Recruitment Ltd. is supporting an established automotive dealership in Ipswich to recruit an experienced Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester. You will join a busy workshop, servicing, diagnosing and repairing a range of vehicles to a high standard.

The role includes carrying out routine servicing, diagnosing faults, performing MOT tests where qualified, and supporting warranty work. You will work Monday to Friday, with a comprehensive benefits package and ongoing manufacturer training.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• At least four years of automotive experience.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Class 4 MOT Tester licence is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults.
• Conduct MOT tests in accordance with DVSA standards.
• Undertake repairs involving brakes, suspension, steering, clutches, timing belts and engine components.
• Complete manufacturer warranty repairs and documentation.
• Prepare digital vehicle health checks and reports.
• Prepare used vehicles to required standards.
• Collaborate with Service Advisors to maintain efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Salary: £29,000 - £37,000 per annum + Productivity & Team Bonuses

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Crem Recruitment is working with an established and highly regarded automotive dealership group in Ipswich to recruit an experienced Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester.

The Role

Working as part of an experienced workshop team, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, diagnosing and repairing a range of vehicles to a high standard.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out routine servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs.
• Diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical faults.
• Conducting MOT tests in accordance with DVSA standards, where qualified.
• Undertaking repairs involving brakes, suspension, steering, clutches, timing belts and engine components.
• Completing manufacturer warranty repairs and associated documentation.
• Carrying out vehicle health checks and preparing accurate digital reports.
• Preparing used vehicles to the required standards.
• Working closely with Service Advisors and the wider workshop team to maintain efficiency and customer satisfaction.

About You

We are looking for a capable and reliable Vehicle Technician who takes pride in their workmanship and enjoys working as part of a team.

The ideal candidate will have:

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. Essential.
• Ideally, at least four years of automotive experience.
• Previous experience within a franchised dealership or established independent workshop.
• Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding skills.
• A full UK driving licence.
• A current Class 4 MOT Tester licence would be advantageous, although training may be considered for the right candidate.
• A professional approach and commitment to delivering high‑quality work.

Previous experience with the manufacturer's vehicles is not required, as full training will be provided.
