About the role
The successful Mechanical & Electrical Vehicle Technician will be responsible for the following duties:
- Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement.
- Diagnose vehicle faults and specify the correct method of repair and parts to be used.
- Carry out vehicle servicing and routine vehicle examinations using handheld data capture devices if applicable.
- Carry out vehicle road testing where necessary to identify specific vehicle defects or following remedial repair.
- Perform PCV mechanical repair skills. An understanding of electrics would be beneficial but not essential.
We'll provide your overalls and all the specialist tools and equipment needed.
Location
- Haverfordwest - You may occasionally be required to work at our Swansea depot with notice, with travel time paid.
Hourly Rate
£17.00 per hour
Working Shift Patterns
- 24 hours per week
- Monday to Wednesday, 0600-1430. Rest-day overtime often available at enhanced rates (£23/hr).
About you
- Minimum level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent (e.g., City & Guilds level I & II).
- Must have a full Cat B license.
- Welding experience is preferable.
- PCV license isn't essential; we can support you in gaining it.
- Are you fully conversant with overhaul and repair of vehicle systems including engines, gearboxes, drive trains, compressed air, hydraulic, braking, steering, suspension, cooling systems, and basic auto electrics?
- Are you familiar with the safe operation of workshop equipment such as brake testers, tracking gauges, hydraulic lifts, oil and waste systems, battery chargers, trolley jacks, scaffolding, pressure washers, smoke readers, headlamp testers, hydraulic jacks, drilling machines, torque wrenches, grinders, and portable tools?
- Have you experience with diagnostic equipment including hydraulic flow meters, gauges, multimeters, temperature gauges, micrometers, laptop testing for engines and gearboxes?
- Are you willing to attend manufacturer product training, DVSA vehicle inspection, and specialist recovery training, which may involve overnight stays?
