Job summary

Royal Mail at Bristol Workshop is seeking a Level 3 qualified Vehicle Technician for a permanent role. You will work across a fleet of vehicles, performing inspections, diagnostics, and repairs with your own toolkit in a modern workshop.

The position offers 39.5 hours weekly, weekend work on a rotating pattern, potential for a night shift, and a welcome bonus up to £1,500. Overtime may boost earnings to around £70k per year.

Qualifications

• Qualified mechanic with IMI Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent.
• Proven experience on a wide range of vehicles (LCV/HGV).
• Valid UK driving licence; HGV licence with trailer experience preferred.
• High standards of workmanship and quality.
• Flexible to service demands and shift patterns.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
• Use your own toolkit for routine maintenance and repairs on light and heavy vehicles.

Are you looking for stability and variety in your next move? Join the largest, and greenest, fleet operator in the UK and take on a new challenge in a commercial vehicle workshop environment.

We’re recruiting a Level 3 qualified mechanic at Bristol Workshop on a Permanent contract, with the potential to earn up to £70k per annum including overtime.

Working Hours: Full time - 39.5 hours per week, 5 over 6 days per week. Current shift is a rotating shift pattern week 1: 06:00 - 14:30, week 2: 07:00 - 15:30 and week 3: 13:30 - 22:00.

You will be required to work 1 in 3 Saturdays (with a weekday day off)

There may be a possibility that a night shift is also implemented in to the shift pattern in the future.

• You’ll perform a full range of inspections, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment.
• You’ll use your own personal toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repair light / heavy goods vehicles.
• You’ll also have access to specialist tooling and shared equipment in our modern, fully equipped workshops.

A Bit About You

• Qualified mechanic: you’re fully qualified to an advanced level (IMI Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent). You’ve got your own toolkit for standard repairs.
• Varied vehicle experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV / HGV.
• Valid UK driving licence: You hold a full manual UK driving licence, preferably an HGV licence with trailer experience.
• High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.
• Flexible to service demands: you’re able to work on a flexible shift rota. You’re always willing to support your team where necessary.
