Job summary

Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service is seeking an experienced HGV Vehicle Technician to join our workshop at Headquarters in Stocklake, Aylesbury. You will service, repair and maintain the fleet of emergency vehicles, plant and light vehicles that support our community.

Candidates should hold NVQ Level 3 Heavy Vehicle (or City & Guilds equivalent), a full driving licence (LGV entitlement preferred), and be capable of diagnostics, electrics, welding and hydraulics.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 Heavy Vehicle qualification (or City & Guilds equivalent).
  • Full driving licence with LGV entitlement preferred.
  • Experience in servicing and repairing light and heavy vehicles, including diagnostics and electrics.

Responsibilities

  • Service, repair and maintain Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service fleet.
  • Diagnose electrical and hydraulic issues on HGV and light vehicles.
  • Ensure safety standards and maintenance schedules are followed.

About this vacancy

The successful candidate will be an experienced, fully qualified HGV Vehicle Technician, joining a team responsible for the servicing, repair, and maintenance of the fleet of emergency vehicles, plant, equipment, and light vehicles that support Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service.

Required Criteria

  • NVQ Level 3 Heavy Vehicle qualification (or equivalent e.g. City and Guilds)
  • Full driving licence, ideally with category C entitlement (LGV)
  • Skilled in all aspects of light commercial and heavy vehicle servicing and repairs, including diagnostics / electrics
  • Experience of welding and associated equipment
  • Vehicle and tool hydraulics
  • Self-motivated, able to work on own initiative to high standards of work
  • Live within 30 minutes travelling time to Aylesbury
