Job summary

Babcock is seeking an experienced NVQ Level 3 Vehicle Mechanic to service, repair and overhaul military vehicles at Exeter. This on-site role offers up to £33,889 depending on experience, plus a £1,000 incentive bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.

You will work 37 hours per week in a secure environment, with tools and PPE provided, and opportunities for overtime and relocation support.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Service and Repair is required.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics and vehicle diagnostics.
• A team player with adaptability and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on military vehicles and electrical systems
• Ensuring correct use of tools and returning unused or faulty materials
• Completing documentation, test certificates, and reports to current standards
• Following technical publications, process plans, and customer specifications
• Performing equipment inspections to meet production and safety standards
• Passing a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment

The role

As a Vehicle Mechanic at Chivenor, you’ll be part of a team that services, repairs, and overhauls military vehicles and electrical equipment. This is a hands‑on role with real purpose—supporting national defence and working with cutting‑edge machinery in a secure, well‑equipped environment.

Day‑to‑day, you’ll be:

• Carrying out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on military vehicles and electrical systems
• Ensuring correct use of tools and returning unused or faulty materials
• Completing documentation, test certificates, and reports to current standards
• Following technical publications, process plans, and customer specifications
• Performing equipment inspections to meet production and safety standards

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on‑site at Chivenor. A relocation package may be available, subject to eligibility.

Essential experience of the Vehicle Mechanic:

• Proven experience in a similar mechanic role (dealership or garage background is ideal)
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics and vehicle diagnostics
• A team player with adaptability and strong communication skills

Qualifications for the Vehicle Mechanic:

• NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Service and Repair
