Job summary

Expleo is seeking an EDS Engineer in the Leyland area to deliver harness and routing designs for Engine Platforms, including 4- and 6-cylinder and EV platforms. The role involves collaboration with PM and Vehicle Test teams to meet prototype timelines, and to develop electrical design inputs using 3D tools.

The ideal candidate has automotive wiring harness design experience with Saber, CREO, and Windchill PLM, plus strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent; strong background in automotive wiring harnesses.
  • Lower qualification acceptable with demonstrable experience.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver harness and routing designs for Engine Platforms (4 and 6 cylinder) and EV platforms.
  • Collaborate with Project Management and Vehicle Test to finalise timelines and coordinate material.
  • Develop electrical design inputs and routing using 3D tools; support design reviews.
  • Assist packaging and development of LV and high voltage harness systems for BEVs.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to enable integration and issue resolution.

Overview

Expleo is a leading Global Engineering Services Provider with UK presence in 10 locations. We are seeking an EDS Engineer to deliver harness and routing designs for various Engine Platforms both 4 and 6 cylinder and new EV platform. The successful candidate is expected to be conversant with client toolsets as well as current thinking/techniques in Automotive EDS Engineering.

The work is expected to be done in a hybrid fashion with at 3 days a week on-site.

We are looking for energetic and driven engineers with broad expertise, however of particular interest would be candidates with previous experience working on HGV or PCV chassis.

This role represents a great opportunity to work on new vehicle lines. Responsibilities
  • Deliver harness and routing designs for various Engine Platforms both 4 and 6 cylindernad EV platforms
  • Good understanding of EV platforms
  • Collaborate with Project Management and Vehicle Test Team to finalise timelines and co-ordinate material for all electrical harnessing to ensure on time delivery for each prototype build.
  • Develop electrical design and schematic inputs
  • Route haresses using 3D tools.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide engineering suport throuout the product development lifecycle.
  • Support packaging, design and development of LV and high voltage harness systems for BEVs.
  • Evaluate various low voltage distribution concepts for next gen EV vehicles which takes into account DCDC power levels, power distribution and low voltage battery management.
  • Work closely with corss-functional teams tosupport system integration, design validation and issue resolution.
Qualifications
  • Degree level qualification in Engineering with relevant background
  • A lower qualification would be acceptable for example HNC/HND should the candidate be able to demonstrate significant demonstrable experience in lieu
  • Full UK (or equivalent) driving licence.
Essential skills
  • Design and development of automotive wiring harnesses using Saber.
  • Use of PTC Creo for electrical wire harness design/routing
  • Use of PTC Windchill PLM toolset.
  • Self- sufficient, self-motivated and excellent team-player
  • Flexible, adaptable, proactive, diplomatic attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Command of common Microsoft Office tools, Excel, Outlook, Teams & Word
  • Understanding of wire harness manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and compliance
Desired skills
  • Design and development of wiring harnesses for HGV/PCV applications
Experience
  • Extensive experience in the design and development of automotive wiring harnesses
  • Experience in the use of CREO and Sabre.
