Job summary

FMG Repair Services in Dundee is seeking an experienced Vehicle Damage Assessor to join our busy workshop and lead the VDA team.

You will inspect damaged vehicles, produce repair estimates, liaise with insurers, and coach colleagues to uphold high standards while delivering outstanding customer service. This leadership role combines hands-on estimating with operational oversight and opportunities to progress within FMG RS and the wider ZIGUP group.

Qualifications

• Experience as Vehicle Damage Assessor preferred.
• Excellent understanding of repair estimating processes.
• Strong communication with insurers and customers.

Responsibilities

• Inspect damaged vehicles and assess the full extent of damage.
• Produce detailed electronic and manual repair estimates.
• Identify prescribed repair methods in line with Thatcham and BSI standards.
• Liaise with insurance companies to gain repair authority.
• Communicate repair methods clearly to customers, engineers and technicians.
• Collaborate across departments to ensure vehicles are returned safely and on time.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Vehicle Damage Assessor ready to step up into a leadership-focused role, combining hands‑on estimating with team support and operational oversight. As a Lead VDA , you'll play a key role in driving performance, maintaining high standards, while continuing to deliver expert assessments and exceptional customer service.

What you’ll be doing:

Inspecting damaged vehicles and accurately assessing the full extent of damage. Producing detailed electronic and manual repair estimates. Identifying correct prescribed repair methods in line with Thatcham and BSI standards. Liaising effectively with insurance companies to gain repair authority. Communicating repair methodologies clearly to customers, engineers and technicians. You'll be assessing a wide range of vehicles, so staying up to date with repair methodologies, manufacturer bulletins, and insurer requirements is key. Teamwork is central to this role - working collaboratively across departments to ensure every vehicle is returned safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.
