Job summary

Avove is seeking an Operations Manager to deliver the SPEN Vegetation Management Contract. You will lead vegetation clearance, arboricultural works and resilience initiatives near overhead lines, ensuring safe, compliant and on-time delivery across the contract.

You’ll oversee planning, budgeting and performance, build stakeholder relationships, and manage large field teams and subcontractors in a regulated utility environment.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in vegetation management or arboriculture within utilities.
• Experience on vegetation clearance programmes for electricity networks operators.
• Proven ability to manage budgets and contract performance.
• Experience leading large operational teams and subcontractors.
• Background in regulated utility environments.
• Experience with SPEN, DNO or transmission vegetation contracts.
• Experience managing NEC contracts is advantageous.
• Experience delivering network resilience or tree risk management programmes.

• Lead safe, compliant delivery of vegetation management across SPEN contract.
• Oversee planning, resource allocation, and delivery to meet targets.
• Drive performance, productivity, and budget control.
• Promote health, safety, environmental and quality culture.
• Lead and develop operational teams and subcontractors.
• Foster relationships with SPEN, authorities, landowners and regulators.
• Manage contract performance, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate emergency and reactive works to support network resilience.
