Job summary

Avove Limited is expanding with the Scottish Power Energy Networks contract and is recruiting a Vegetation Site Manager to oversee on-site vegetation management in Scotland. You will lead site teams, organize daily tasks, manage resources, and maintain clear communication with internal teams and external stakeholders.

A strong focus on health and safety, environmental compliance and quality is essential. This long-term role sits within a six-year framework, offering opportunities to grow with

Qualifications

  • Experience on overhead powerlines and/or vegetation management.
  • Ability to plan and organise staff and machinery around power outages.
  • Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset for sound decisions and risk assessment.
  • Proactive attitude to improve processes and overcome challenges.
  • Good IT literacy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in coaching or mentoring and leading a team.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver projects within budget, on programme and safely.
  • Ensure capable workforce including subcontractors is in place.
  • Undertake site audits to ensure Health and Safety compliance.
  • Perform quality checks per contract specification.
  • Manage stakeholders including customers, local authorities and third parties.
  • Collaborate with Operational Lead.
  • Foster open two-way communication and build team trust.
  • Set SMART objectives, produce KPIs and meet deadlines.
  • Book machinery and traffic management where applicable.

Job description

Avove is excited to announce a major expansion of our operations with Scottish Power Energy Networks. The contract has now doubled in size to approximately £10 million per annum and is secured for a full six-year period. This enables us to launch a significant recruitment drive focused on long-term planning, investment in people, and cutting-edge equipment.

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Vegetation Site Manager. You will be responsible for overseeing all on-site vegetation management activities, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule. This includes leading site teams, organising daily tasks, managing resources, and maintaining strong communication with both internal teams and external stakeholders. A strong focus on health and safety, environmental compliance, and quality is essential.

What will your day look like…
  • Ensuring projects are delivered within budget, to programme and safely
  • Ensuring a suitably competent workforce (including subcontractors) is in place to complete all site activities
  • Undertaking site audits and inspections to ensure Health and Safety compliance with relevant legislation
  • Performing quality checks in-line with contract specification
  • Demonstrating excellent stakeholder management; collaborating with customers, clients, local authorities and third parties.
  • Working closely with the Operational Lead.
  • Cultivating open 2-way communication and building trust within the team.
  • Setting SMART objectives, producing KPIs and working to deadlines.
  • Where applicable, making sure machinery and/or traffic management is booked
About you…
  • Experience working on overhead powerlines and/or in vegetation management
  • The ability to effectively plan and organise staff and machinery around power outages
  • Strong communication skills, with the confidence to engage with both internal and external stakeholder
  • A critical and analytical mindset, capable of making sound judgements and decisions
  • A proactive attitude, with the drive to improve processes and overcome challenges

  • Experience in coaching or mentoring, with the ability to lead and develop a team
