Job summary

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals is seeking a Band 6 nurse to lead a Vascular Ward at Royal Preston Hospital. You will supervise a 15-bed ward, supported by consultants and vascular therapy teams, with opportunities to progress into leadership roles and a focus on patient safety.

You will role-model high clinical standards, supervise staff, and develop the team while maintaining excellent communication with patients, relatives, and the wider multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Awareness of recent advances within nursing practice
• Knowledge of clinical governance and safeguarding and their relevance to practice
• Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
• Experience of implementing changes to benefit patients and improve nursing practice
• Knowledge of ethical issues
• Ward experience
• Evidence of clinical competence in area of specialty (e.g., surgery)
• Knowledge of research and development
• Evidence of leadership experience and learning

Responsibilities

• Support the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse or Matron in ensuring the provision of excellent care with compassion for patients and visitors.
• Ensure a high standard of nursing by self and others based on assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care to meet patients’ needs.
• Assist Ward Manager in safe, effective management of the area including personnel, facilities and processes.
