Job summary

South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust is inviting applications for a Trust Doctor in Vascular Surgery. The post supports a 1:6 non-resident vascular on-call with regular theatre exposure and opportunities for audit, research and teaching.

Initial fixed-term for 12 months with a focus on developing skills towards CESR pathways, based in a major arterial centre in the region. The post requires full GMC registration, MRCS or equivalent, and experience in vascular surgery at ST3+ level

Qualifications

• Primary Medical Qualification and full GMC registration are essential.
• MRCS or equivalent is required.
• Experience in vascular surgery at ST3+ level or equivalent is desirable.
• Able to perform routine vascular surgical procedures independently.
• Good history and examination skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead ward rounds and manage inpatients within competence; escalate to consultants as needed.
• Prepare patients for theatre and post-operative care.
• Assist in theatre and post-operative care and perform selected procedures.
• Participate in clinical governance, audits and teaching.
• Contribute to departmental meetings and education programmes.
