Job summary

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 7 Vascular Sonographer to join our ultrasound team at Hillingdon Hospital and Mount Vernon Hospital. You will provide complex vascular assessments and generate precise reports for multidisciplinary teams.

Ideal candidates will hold AVS accreditation and be registered with the College and Society for Clinical Vascular Science, with UK experience and a proactive approach to service development.

Qualifications

• UK ultrasound experience with vascular scanning required.
• AVS accreditation and registration with CSSVS/College required.
• Band 7 level with NHS or equivalent clinical exposure.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive vascular investigations (arterial, venous, carotid, aneurysm surveillance).
• Produce clear reports and communicate urgent findings to vascular/stroke teams.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff and support training.

Job description

With new and passionate Ultrasound Leads driving service development, we are seeking to recruit a dedicated and experienced Band 7 Vascular Sonographer with UK experience, AVS accreditation and registration with the College and Society for Clinical Vascular Science to join our friendly and forward-looking team. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about their work, committed to achieving excellence and providing the best patient care. You must be available to work at either of our Trust sites - Hillingdon Hospital and Mount Vernon Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The role involves undertaking a full range of complex vascular investigations, including arterial, venous, carotid, aneurysm and graft surveillance, EVAR follow up and vasospastic testing. You will produce clear, accurate reports using the Trust's electronic systems and communicate any urgent findings to the vascular and stroke teams. The post requires an adaptable approach to scanning techniques to meet individual patient needs, alongside active contribution to service development, audit, research and wider clinical governance. You will also play a key part in supervising and supporting junior staff and assisting with the training of new team members.

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust's services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.
