Valve Assembly Technician — Precision Build & Test

Job summary

IMI plc in the United Kingdom is seeking a skilled valve assembly technician to assemble and test complex products to GA drawings. You will diagnose faults, perform tests, and prepare finished units for inspection and packing.

Ideal candidates have formal engineering training and proven experience with pressure testing and valve assemblies, plus strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship/NVQ 2 or 3, HNC Eng or equivalent required.
• Ability to read and interpret GA designs, procedures and technical requirements and validate information during build/test.
• Experience with pressure testing using air, fluid and gas.
• Experience with multiple valve designs and applications.
• Ability to read, interpret and validate technical drawings and specs.
• High attention to detail and precision.
• Ability to work independently within defined parameters.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Clear communication of fault diagnoses with other departments.
• Good communication skills.
• Strong manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination.
• Flexible approach to time and priorities.
• PC literacy in Word and Excel.
• Extensive experience in complex valve assembly.

Responsibilities

• Build to GA drawing requirements.
• Fault diagnosis and rectification.
• Test according to GA drawings, procedures and requirements.
• Finish products ready for inspection/packing including labeling and cleaning.
• Clean components and assemblies.
• Assist in training and knowledge transfer.
• Machine sub-assemblies to required specifications and quality.
• Use measuring equipment to verify tolerances.
• Undertake soldering where required.
• Complete qualifications and re-qualifications as needed.
• Coil winding for non-flow line products.
• Record data using spreadsheets and documents.
• Maintain clean and safe work area before/after shift.
• Perform other duties commensurate with role.
