Job summary

A community-focused organization is seeking a Youth Development Practitioner to support young people through structured sessions and by building strong relationships. This role is ideal for someone with experience working with children, particularly those facing challenges. Flexibility across various locations in South East London is essential. The position is available as part-time, sessional, or full-time, offering a salary of up to £30k, based on experience and qualifications. Training opportunities are provided.

Overview

Job Title: YouthDevelopmentPractitioner
Company: All Kids Can Ltd
Location: Various sites across South East London, Bexley and surrounding areas.
Salary: Up to £28-£30k per annum depending on age and experience

Contract Type: Part time, sessional, or full time available.
Start Date: Flexible

Main responsibilities
  • Deliver structured and flexible sessions for young people referred to the STARTS programme, either 2:1, 1:1 or in small groups.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with children and young people, often facing complex or challenging circumstances.
  • Work collaboratively with schools, families, and external professionals to provide consistent and joined-up support.
  • Support transitions into or between educational settings, acting as a bridge and advocate for the young person.
  • Provide tailored support to children with ADHD and other behavioural challenges, creating strategies to manage their behaviours and help them develop social, emotional, and cognitive skills.
  • Use positive reinforcement, de-escalation techniques, and consistent boundaries to manage challenging behaviours and help children stay engaged in learning and activities.
  • Track each child’s progress and work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure that strategies and goals are aligned.
  • Respond calmly and appropriately in moments of crisis, using approved techniques to ensure the safety and well-being of the child and others.

  • Experience with children or young people in coaching, education, youth work or care
  • Sports coaching or creative activity delivery
  • Relevant qualifications in education, sports coaching, youth work or childcare (or willingness to train)
  • Experience supporting children with SEND
  • Knowledge of trauma informed or therapeutic approaches

Interview Process

Stage 1: Successful applicants will be contacted for a screening interview

Stage 2: In person interview with at least two of the AllKidsCan Team. Relevant checks and references will be collected.

Stage 3: Observed trial session at a relevant session

Stage 4: Successful applicants will be provided with a job offer letter and start date agreed.
