Job Description

Red Bull Powertrains has an exciting opportunity for a V6 Performance Development Engineer to join our technical team in Milton Keynes. You will be integral in developing our Power Units into race-ready packages for the 2026 Formula One season, contributing to the creation of highly competitive cars.

This role is based within the ICE Thermodynamics Department and involves working closely with various teams to optimize engine performance, reliability, and efficiency from concept through to race day. Experience in high-performance racing engine thermodynamic development is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Identify, specify, conduct, and analyze thermodynamic development testing on engine components and systems under the guidance of the Head of Thermodynamics.
  2. Collaborate with team members to develop and refine measurement tools and techniques for accurate assessment of physical behaviors.
  3. Innovate and improve testing methodologies to enhance quality, consistency, and efficiency of development processes.
Qualifications & Attributes
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in high-performance racing engine R&D or similar high-power-output projects; F1 hybrid power units experience is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical engineering skills, both theoretical and practical.
  • Deep understanding of performance thermodynamics and its impact on on-track performance.
  • Proven ability in fault investigation, containment, and rectification.
  • Knowledge of engine testing methodologies.
  • Passion for innovation, proactive attitude, and eagerness to learn.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build professional relationships.
