Job description

Red Bull Powertrains has an exciting opportunity for a V6 Performance Development Engineer to join our technical office in Milton Keynes. This role involves building on our first Power Units, developing them into a race-ready package, and contributing to the delivery of the most competitive car on the 2026 Formula One grid. Role Overview

Based in Milton Keynes, you will be part of the ICE Thermodynamics Department, working closely with all teams within Red Bull Powertrains to maximize engine performance from concept to podium. Experience in high power-output racing engine thermodynamic development is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Identify, specify, conduct, and analyze thermodynamic development tests on components and systems under the guidance of the Head of Thermodynamics.
  2. Collaborate with team members to develop components and systems, ensuring measurement tools accurately assess physical behavior.
  3. Innovate new methods and techniques to enhance the quality, consistency, and efficiency of thermodynamic testing as directed.
Experience & Attributes
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in high-performance racing engine R&D projects or high power-output racing engine thermodynamics; F1 hybrid power unit experience is advantageous.
  • Strong mechanical engineering skills in both technical and practical applications.
  • Thorough understanding of performance thermodynamics and its impact on on-track performance.
  • Proven success in fault investigation, containment, and rectification.
  • Practical knowledge of engine testing methodologies.
  • Passion for innovation, a can-do attitude, and eagerness to learn new skills.
  • Ability to multitask, adapt to changing priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong professional relationships across the Red Bull Technology Campus.
