Job summary

BAE Systems in Cowes is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to drive systems engineering across a radar-focused programme. You will lead lifecycle processes, decompose requirements, and guide architecture modelling using tools such as Cameo, CATIA Magic or Enterprise Architect.

The role involves shaping system specifications, verification strategies and managing requirements with IBM DOORS Next, while coordinating with cross-functional teams in a challenging defence setting.

Qualifications

• Extensive Systems Engineering experience within complex environments.
• Strong understanding of Systems Engineering principles and systems thinking.
• Experience with ISO 15288 standards.
• Proven experience managing requirements using IBM DOORS Next or similar tools.
• Leadership of large-scale system design with Waterfall and Agile lifecycles.
• Experience using JIRA for engineering and project management.
• Ability to communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.

Overview

BAE Systems are seeking an experienced Principal Systems Engineer to join a leading defence engineering programme focused on the development and enhancement of advanced radar systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the application of Systems Engineering processes throughout the full engineering lifecycle.
• Develop innovative solutions to complex technical challenges within advanced radar systems.
• Conduct system design and trade off analysis to optimise system performance and capability.
• Decompose customer and stakeholder requirements into system and subsystem requirements.
• Manage requirements within approved toolsets such as IBM DOORS Next.
• Produce and review system specifications and technical documentation.
• Lead system architecture development and modelling activities using tools such as Cameo, CATIA Magic or Enterprise Architect.
• Define system integration, verification and validation strategies.
