Job summary

Outsource UK is seeking Associate Mechanical Operators for RAF Marham to perform metalworking and corrosion remediation on aircraft, contributing to readiness and safety.

You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, following approved procedures and technical documentation, using manual and pneumatic tools, and applying bonding and fastener techniques in a safety-critical environment.

Qualifications

• Experience using manual and pneumatic tools.
• Experience preparing metal and/or composite surfaces for repair.
• Knowledge of drilling, honing, and reaming techniques.
• Experience installing and removing aircraft fasteners.
• Familiarity with adhesive bonding processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance activities in line with Approved Technical Information and risk assessments.
• Ensure all airworthiness records are accurately maintained.
• Document all work and report/escalate issues as required.
• Comply with MOE and associated standards and procedures.
• Apply Safety Management System principles, including human factors.
• Support Continuing Airworthiness Assurance requirements.
• Undertake hands-on aircraft work: prepare metal/composite structures, drill/ream panels, apply bonding, remove/install fasteners.

Associate Mechanical Operator
Location: RAF Marham
Duration: 20 months
Hourly Rate: £21 PAYE or £28.11 via umbrella (inside IR35)
Working Pattern: Full-time, onsite
Security Clearance: BPSS with SC (subject to ITAR restrictions)

About the Role

We are seeking multiple Associate Mechanical Operators to join our team at RAF Marham. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a highly skilled, multi-disciplinary environment supporting aircraft maintenance and repair activities.

In this role, you will carry out metalworking and corrosion remediation tasks on aircraft, contributing directly to operational readiness and safety. You'll work as part of a close-knit team, following approved maintenance procedures and technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Performing maintenance activities in line with Approved Technical Information and risk assessments
• Ensuring all airworthiness records are accurately maintained
• Documenting all work undertaken and reporting/escalating issues as required
• Complying with organisational procedures, including MOE and associated standards
• Applying Safety Management System principles, including human factors and error management
• Supporting Continuing Airworthiness Assurance requirements
• Undertaking hands-on aircraft work, including:
  • Preparation of metal and composite structures for repair
  • Drilling and reaming of aircraft panels and structures
  • Application of adhesive bonding
  • Removal and installation of aircraft fasteners

Knowledge & Experience

Essential Skills:

• Experience using manual and pneumatic tools
• Experience preparing metal and/or composite surfaces for repair
• Knowledge of drilling, honing, and reaming techniques
• Experience installing and removing aircraft fasteners
• Familiarity with adhesive bonding processes

Knowledge:

• General understanding of aircraft structures or mechanical systems
• Awareness of team integration and continuous improvement principles

Qualifications

• Engineering Apprenticeship (ideally Aeronautical Engineering) or military equivalent
• Minimum NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent)
• Recognised certifications (e.g. City & Guilds, IMI, Edexcel, EAL, SEMTA, ATA)
• Equivalent experience supported by formal evidence (e.g. military service records) will be considered
