A leading banking group is seeking a UX Designer for a 12-month fixed-term contract in Manchester. This role involves crafting user experiences, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and advocating for customer inclusion in design. The ideal candidate will have strong UX design skills and experience in user testing, with a focus on creating accessible and effective digital experiences.
JOB TITLE: UX Designer (12-Month FTC)
LOCATION(S): Manchester
SALARY: £59,850 - £66,500
HOURS: Full-Time
DURATION: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time in the Manchester office.
Note: Occasional travel to other group locations (e.g. London, Leeds, and Edinburgh), may be required.
About this opportunity
As a UX Designer, you will be part of the Enterprise Experience Design (eXD) Team, primarilysupporting the Cyber Security area of Lloyds Banking Group. You will collaborate closely with engineers, product owners, and consumers to understand user needs and behaviours. You will employ rapid prototyping and user testing techniques to craft and refine end to end consumer-centric journeys and North Star experience visions for various products and services.
What You’ll Do
Work in a technically focused environment, balancing complex security outcomes with consumer needs.
Craft the end-to-end user experience, bringing together a cohesive journey step by step.
Bring designs to life through Figma and feel confident in running user testing sessions.
Balance business requirements with user needs, gathering user research and rationale to align stakeholders on individual user needs. You’ll know when to diplomatically push back, if necessary, to act on what’s right for the customer.
Be adaptable to the technical constraints of different platforms yet still be able to give guidance on creating the best possible end-user experience.
Advocate customer inclusion, ensuring designs are inclusive and accessible to customers of all ages, backgrounds, and technical abilities.
Collaborate closely with other designers, product owners, and engineers.
What You’ll Need
Strong, demonstrable experience as a UX Designer
Highly motivated, proactive, and driven to achieve individual and collective goals.
Experience in running usability research sessions,creating an environment that encourages innovation and learning.
Comfortable being the UX expert in a team of Security colleagues, leading all aspects of UX, talking with users and building outputs.
Excellent prototyping and layout skills, clearly articulating these to internal customers and development teams.
Comfortable using and building on existing design systems, proactively recommending new ways to improve and extend them.
Strong relationship-building skills, an innovative approach to problem-solving, and credibility when dealing with senior audiences, with the confidence to provide a healthy challenge where appropriate.
A collaborative mindset, working closely with a multi-disciplinary team, and a desire to see designs through to delivery, communicating with developers to ensure designs meet specifications and can be used by a broad range of users.
Desirable Experience
History of communicating with users to understand their needs and balance these against outcomes.
Some experience as a Visual Designer.
About the Team
At the heart of our organisation, the Chief Security Office (CSO) plays a vital role in keeping our customers, colleagues, and data safe. They lead everything from property security to colleague security education and preventing cyber-attacks.
You will be joining the Enterprise Experience Design Team, working across the CSO Platform.You will work directly with feature teams to help them consider how consumers experience their products and services, aiming to build effective security experiences that deliver consumer and security value.
