Job summary

SCS Railways is seeking a Civil/Environmental engineering graduate or experienced professional to lead site coordination for utility installation projects in Greater London. You will plan daily works, liaise with subcontractors and ensure permits, risk assessments and safety systems are applied correctly.

The ideal candidate has a civil/infrastructure background and demonstrates strong coordination, planning and quality control skills for demanding on-site environments.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in Civil engineering / Infrastructure projects.
• Must be able to coordinate site activities and plan works safely.
• Experience with permits and safety systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Day to day work site coordination and planning to ensure the works are carried out safely and efficiently.
• Work with subcontractor to ensure preparation and implementation of risk assessments, method statements, permits and consents.
• Ensure Permit to Dig, Temporary Works, other permits and safety systems are implemented.
• Liaise with Section Foreman to ensure adherence to safe methods of work and attend daily coordination meetings.
• Identify and complete temporary works needs early and in line with procedures.
• Carry out quality checks per ITPs and coordinate with QA team.
• Manage non-conformance reporting and follow through to closure.
• Provide support to other teams such as Community Relations, Highways, Logistics.
• Track subcontractor progress against baseline productivity and assist site engineers for smooth progress.

Job description

Reporting to the Utilities Sub-Agent responsible for the utility packages (Gas main diversion works, multi utility diversions, Surveys, etc)

Role Responsibility

• Day to day work site coordination and planning to ensure the works are carried out safely and efficiently.
• Working with the subcontractor to ensure the timely preparation Risk Assessment Method Statements, Inspection and Test Plans, Permits, Consents etc for the works and that these are implemented.
• Ensuring Permit to Dig, Temporary Works, other permits and other safety systems are implemented.
• Liaison with the Section Foreman to ensure the adherence to safe methods of work. Attend the daily coordination meetings with other engineers and the foreman to plan the next day’s work.
• Ensuring all temporary works needs are identified sufficiently early and completed in accordance with the relevant procedures.
• Ensuring all quality checks are carried out in accordance with the ITP’s and properly recorded. Including reviewing subcontractor check sheets and liaising with the SCS QA team.
• The management of non-conformance reporting and managing the non-conformance on site until complete.
• Provide support and assistance and information to other teams as necessary such as Community Relations, Highways, Logistics.
• Tracking and monitoring of subcontractor progress against their baseline productivity
• Work with other site and section engineers to ensure the site works progress smoothly, safely and as planned.

• Degree or equivalent in civil / Environmental engineering or similar
