Job summary

STRABAG is seeking a Site Engineer to provide technical and quality assurance for civil works as part of a major North West delivery team at a Bolton site.

You will support planning, surveying, QA processes, and ensure compliant temporary and permanent works, with responsibility for documentation, lookaheads, and subcontractor interface for crossings and diversions.

Qualifications

• Site engineering experience in civil engineering projects.
• Proficient in surveying and digital QA.
• CSCS.
• Competent in GNSS/Total Station.
• First Aid at Work.
• Temporary Works awareness.

Responsibilities

• Support planning and sequencing of your section of work (method statements, RAMS, permits), ensuring programme certainty.
• Oversee subcontractor setting-out and survey control, providing assurance checks; manage as-builts, red-lines, and ITPs.
• Ensure subcontractor safe systems of work are implemented and compliant.
• Maintain quality documentation and ITPS/RAMs as needed.
• Assist with RFIs, change requests, or non-conformances for sign-off.
• Contribute to 4-week lookahead programmes and progress tracking.
• Prepare documentation for consents and ensure obligations are met.
• Maintain daily records and handover documentation; support commercial change with evidence.

Tasks

As a Site Engineer, you will provide technical and quality assurance for a wide range of civil engineering works. You will be part of a major projects delivery team, providing valuable support to help deliver a key piece of critical infrastructure for the North West.

• Support with the planning and sequencing of your section of work (method statements, RAMS, permits), ensuring programme certainty.
• Oversee subcontractor setting-out and survey control, providing assurance checks; manage as-builts, red-lines, and test/inspection records against ITPs.
• Ensure subcontractor safe systems of work are implemented, and support the team in ensuring compliance.
• Take responsibility for ensuring the subcontractor quality documentation is implemented and adhered to.
• Ensure accurate record keeping and follow processes to provide certainty on construction compliance, and ultimate handover to the authorities and client.
• Deliver all works in line with permanent and temporary designs.
• Support with the management of subcontractors, daily briefings, progress tracking, and short-term lookaheads.
• Interface with utilities teams for crossings/diversions; follow HSG47 controls and Permit-to-Dig.
• Take responsibility for the collation of files for quality records (ITP deliverables etc.) for relevant works.
• Assist with the development and preparation of any documentation – produce ITPS, RAMs and VTS as needed.
• Support the Temporary Works Supervisor to ensure compliance.
• Assist with the ordering of any material and equipment needed to deliver the works.
• Provide support to the Engineering team by raising any required RFIs, change requests, or non-conformances for sign-off.
• Take part in the maintenance of 4-week lookahead programmes, and monitor progress.
• Provide support with the preparation of any documentation required for consents. Ensure the works comply with any consent obligations.
• Maintain daily records, progress measures and handover documentation; support commercial change with clear evidence.
