Utilities Planner

Department: United Utilities

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Preston (Redscar)

Reporting To: Nicola Disley

Compensation: £26,000 - £28,000 / year

Description

As a Utilities Planner, you will serve as the key contact before works for the operational team. You will have full accountability for planning and streetworks aspects of all works before they commence on site. Your responsibilities include ensuring operational teams can undertake their work in line with received plans and requested dates, complying with NRSWA, and adhering to timescales to minimize financial impact to the company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of workstreams, coordinating activities from receipt to job completion.
  • Schedule work orders according to SLAs, optimize travel routes, and boost productivity.
  • Identify noticing issues early and intervene to ensure proper handling of inspections and other information, minimizing challenges to Section 74 invoices and FPNs.
  • Maintain timely and accurate data entry and uploads into works management systems, escalating issues as needed.
  • Meet client and operational requirements professionally and efficiently.
  • Provide daily and weekly reports to ensure service levels and objectives are achieved.
  • Contribute positively and innovatively to the team by providing solutions and embracing change.
  • Report safety issues in accordance with company procedures.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Previous experience in utilities is preferred.
  • Experience in planning or coordination roles.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Logical thinking skills.
