Job description

Waylands Volvo is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our team as a Used Car Controller. If you are passionate about the automotive industry and have a keen eye for detail, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. As the Used Car Controller, you will play a crucial role in managing our used car inventory, optimizing sales, and ensuring our customers have a positive experience throughout the process.

Duties will include:
  1. Overseeing the entire used car inventory, including acquisitions, pricing, and merchandising, both online and on our forecourts. Work closely with the sales team to ensure a diverse and appealing selection of used vehicles.
  2. Conducting thorough appraisals of trade-ins and used cars, taking into account market trends, vehicle conditions, and other relevant factors. Determine competitive and attractive pricing for each vehicle.
  3. Collaborating with the service department to ensure used vehicles undergo necessary reconditioning and repairs, maintaining quality standards for our customers.
  4. Developing and executing effective marketing strategies to promote used car sales, both online and offline.
  5. Assisting the sales team with product knowledge, pricing, and availability information for used vehicles. Providing guidance on negotiation strategies and maximising every sale opportunity.
  6. Working with the sales team to ensure every used enquiry is dealt with in accordance with our contact strategy.
  7. Ensuring all necessary paperwork is accurately completed and filed in compliance with legal regulations.
  8. Communicating and developing strong personal relationships with customers to maintain their continued loyalty.
About You:
  1. Proven experience in automotive sales, used car management, or a related role.
  2. In-depth knowledge of the used car market, including pricing trends and popular models.
  3. Strong negotiation and sales skills, with a customer-oriented approach.
  4. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  5. Attention to detail and ability to assess vehicle conditions accurately.
  6. Proficiency in using automotive software.
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  8. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  9. Full driving licence.
Salary, Hours and Benefits:
  1. 5-day week on a set rota that includes weekends (45 hours per week).
  2. £28,000 basic salary (OTE £55k).
  3. 31 days holiday per year (including Bank Holidays, some of which you will be required to cover).
