An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated nurse specialist to join our highly dynamic Urology CNS team. The focus for this post is supporting patients on the Prostate Pathway and the ability to perform flexible cystoscopy. Training for flexible cystoscopy will be over 2 years. You must be a First Level Registered Nurse with a minimum of 5 years post registration.
It is essential that you have Urology experience with knowledge on care and management of patients with prostate cancer an advantage. The post holder will contribute and support improvement initiatives within the prostate cancer pathway. You should provide evidence of being able to work autonomously and part of a multi professional team. You should be able to make complex clinical decisions using specialist clinical judgment and prioritise own workload.
You will assume a leading role supporting TRUS return clinics, to compliment consultant activity and improve the patients pathway Evidence of completion of a training pathway and clinical competencies required to fulfill the role is desirable. You will work within the nursing, medical and multi-professional team to ensure a high standard of care and work towards gaining the knowledge and skill set to competently perform the necessary technical/invasive/physical aspects of care to support patient compliance with treatment regimes You will have a key role to facilitate change to improve quality within the department.
This post may also be considered as an Annex 21 post at Band 7. You must be a First Level Registered Nurse with a minimum of 5 years post registration experience with at least 4 years Urology experience. You will ideally be educated to Masters degree level or working towards this level of education. You should possess well developed IT skills and be able to demonstrate good organisational and time management skills.
Possession of a nonmedical prescribing qualification is desirable but not essential as training will be given.
