Job summary

Trial Balance Consulting has been engaged by a UK retail-focused client to recruit an experienced Financial Accountant for an urgent, three-month contract near Cullompton. The role offers a competitive circa £50k salary and immediate start.

You will work closely with the Financial Controller and a small finance team, covering end-to-end accounting, monthly reporting, VAT and audit support, and enhanced cash flow forecasting. Strong Excel and multi-currency awareness are desirable.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of end-to-end accounting processes.
• Fully professionally qualified (ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent).
• Strong IT aptitude and advanced Excel skills.
• Knowledge of multi-currency transactions and EU VAT desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in monthly management reports with commentary.
• Be a key contact for internal and external audits.
• Produce timely financial reporting packs in line with FCA requirements.
• Prepare VAT reports for UK and EU entities.
• Produce cash flow statements and forecasts.
• Maintain the fixed asset register.
• Deputise for Financial Controller and support a small finance team.
