Job summary

University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Acute Clinical Practitioner (Band 8a) for the Urgent Treatment Centre and Emergency Department. The post requires autonomous practice, expert decision-making, and independent prescribing within scope, with leadership across a multidisciplinary team.

The successful candidate will hold a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice, possess independent prescribing qualifications, and have at least five years post-registration

Qualifications

• Registered healthcare professional with a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice and independent prescribing.
• Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience in acute or emergency care.
• Experience in paediatric assessment within primary/urgent care.
• Ability to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary UTC/ED.

Responsibilities

• Deliver advanced clinical practice within UTC/ED.
• Independently assess, diagnose, manage complex adult/paediatric cases.
• Request and interpret investigations to support decisions.
• Prescribe and initiate treatments as a non-medical independent prescriber.
• Lead resuscitation when needed.
• Discharge patients and refer appropriately.
• Provide clinical leadership and mentor ACPs.
