Role Summary
As an Established Designer on Womenswear, you will design innovative, trend-forward Outerwear & Jackets collections that balance creativity and commerciality across the UK & EU markets. From initial sketch to final fit, you will bring ideas to life, working closely with buying, planning, and garment tech teams to develop products from concept to production. You will also support global travel for inspiration and development, aligning with our business strategy and building strong relationships with our international suppliers.
What You'll Be Doing
- Develop successful, innovative, yet commercial outerwear and jackets ranges that meet business requirements across the UK and EU for stores and online.
- Create products that exceed customer expectations, with awareness of sustainability, price architecture, margins, and selling prices.
- Collaborate with buying and planning teams to build and produce collections reflecting core sensibilities and emerging trends, ensuring commercial viability. An understanding of option count and ranging is essential.
- Demonstrate excellent sourcing skills and communicate effectively with UK, EU, and international suppliers.
- Travel internationally as needed for range development and inspiration shopping.
- Work with the technical team to fit samples and oversee production.
- Partner with the Clo designer to create patterns from initial sketches.
- Work closely with the Head of Design and team on colour palettes and seasonal trends.
- Show knowledge of high fashion trends, underground street styles, and cultural movements, and incorporate this understanding into designs.
- Utilize weekly trade figures to inform design decisions for UK and EU markets.
- Report to the Senior Head of Design.
What You'll Need
- Understanding of Urban Outfitters as a trend leader and the ability to elevate its position.
- A directional, aspirational portfolio demonstrating the ability to translate creative ideas into commercially viable ranges relevant to the current market.
- Precision from concept to specifications and final designs.
- Passion, drive, and individuality in your work.
- Proven track record of delivering in-season products.
- Ability to manage internal relationships and communicate effectively.
- Ability to perform under pressure.
- Excellent commercial acumen with strong communication and presentation skills.
- Hand-drawing skills are essential.
- Proficiency in CAD software (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
- Basic knowledge of Clo and AI.
- Experience working with a global supply base and willingness to travel internationally.
- Strong organizational skills and confidence in communication.
