Job Title: Knitwear Designer

Reports to: Design Manager / Head of Design

Job Overview:

We are seeking a creative and skilled Ladies/girls Knitwear Designer with a strong sense of trend and market awareness to join our dynamic design team. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in knitwear design, with proven capabilities in pattern and shape development. This role requires a proactive team player who is comfortable attending customer meetings and traveling as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct trend research and market analysis to identify opportunities and inspire innovative knitwear collections
  • Develop seasonal knitwear ranges in line with brand direction and customer needs
  • Translate concepts into technical and creative designs, including detailed specifications and mood boards
  • Collaborate closely with the technical, production, and sales teams to ensure design feasibility and commercial viability
  • Attend customer meetings to present collections and gather feedback for future developments
  • Drive the development of shapes and patterns with a strong understanding of yarns, stitches, and construction
  • Ensure all designs align with timelines, budget, and brand identity
  • Participate in fittings and product reviews, making necessary adjustments based on feedback
  • Be open to regular travel for sourcing, development trips, or customer presentations
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication and collaboration within the design team and across departments

Requirements:

  • A degree in Fashion Design or a related field, with a specialization or focus in knitwear preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in knitwear design
  • Strong knowledge of yarn types, knit structures, pattern making, and garment construction
  • A keen eye for trend forecasting, color, and texture
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • A team-oriented mindset with the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Proficiency in design software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or equivalent)
  • Willingness to travel as required
