Job description

Location: PO16, Fareham – Hampshire

The company

Parkway is a leading British furniture manufacturer, with over 15 years specialising in ultra-luxury bespoke furniture for superyachts and high-end residential projects worldwide.

Based in Hampshire, our extensive manufacturing facilities operate across three sites, including a new 30,000sq foot centre of excellence, combining exquisite cabinetry, bespoke upholstery, and unique custom finishes.

Our highly skilled craftspeople, artisans and technical designers have the pleasure of working with leading international interior designers on award winning and iconic projects, producing the highest calibre of unique furniture, from luxury upholstered products, through to high-end cabinetry and bespoke interiors.

The Role

Upholsterer to join our bespoke furniture team in our newly refurbished production centre on an exciting mix of bespoke furniture projects around the world.

The successful candidate must have at least 3 years in bespoke and luxury upholstered furniture production, with a passion for producing high-quality bespoke products with a continuous focus on quality and detail.

You will be experienced in all aspects of upholstery, communicating with the carpentry, and sewing teams, working from drawings and sales orders taking a design through to full production, cutting, foam, upholstery and quality control.

Main Duties

  • Completion of upholstery to a very high-quality standard, whilst meeting deadlines.
  • Being proactive in the planning of work to ensure all avoidable problems are avoided.
  • Working with the production team through all stages of the work instructions and schedules.
  • Hands-on approach to all aspects of the role.
  • Implementation of good housekeeping.
  • Working with the production team and line managers as part of continued improvements and ensuring quality standards are adhered to.

Skills & Experience required.

  • High degree of upholstery skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to produce high-quality bespoke furniture to an excellent standard of workmanship.
  • Strong Knowledge and experience of a wide range of furniture styles and finishing techniques, including deep buttoning etc.
  • Competent with both modern and traditional upholstery methods and techniques.
  • Preparation of frames and knowledge of foam, springs and bodywork build.
  • Excellent time keeping and attendance.
  • Fully experienced in a wide range of power and hand tools, such as foam saws, drills, heat guns, steamers.
  • Experience and knowledge of templating, cutting leather, vinyl, canvas, textiles & foams, chasing, glueing & foam construction, stapling, fitting & dressing finished items.
  • Ability to multi-task various projects and meet deadlines.
  • Flexible and ability to adapt to changing work priorities.
  • Displays competence in reading and understanding technical production drawings / sketches.
