Job summary

Envision Education in Bourne End is seeking an Unqualified Teaching Assistant to support pupils’ learning, development and wellbeing in primary schools. You will work with teachers and staff, providing one-to-one and small-group support and help with learning tasks.

No formal qualification is required. If you have experience with children or young people, you could start or develop your education career here. The role runs 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday, in a supportive school environment.

We welcome applications from candidates who have experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals. Your previous experience could be highly transferable to a school environment.

You may have previously worked as a Support Worker, Care Assistant, Carer, Youth Worker, Childcare Practitioner, Nursery Practitioner, Residential Support Worker, Sports Coach, Mentor, Healthcare Assistant or in another role involving children or young people.

The Role

As an Unqualified Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and school staff to support pupils with their learning, development and wellbeing throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting pupils with their learning and classroom activities

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support

• Helping pupils understand and complete learning tasks

• Supporting children with SEND and additional needs

• Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and positive social skills

• Supporting positive behaviour within the classroom

• Helping pupils remain focused and engaged during lessons

• Assisting teachers with classroom activities and learning resources

• Providing emotional and pastoral support where required

• Building positive and professional relationships with pupils

• Supporting pupils with their individual learning and developmental needs

• Helping create a safe, positive and inclusive classroom environment

• Working effectively as part of a wider school team

• Supporting the teacher with the smooth running of the classroom

What We're Looking For

• No formal Teaching Assistant qualification is required

• Must be based in Bourne End or willing to commute to Bourne End

• Available to work 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday

• Previous experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals

• A caring, patient and supportive approach

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Confident working with children and young people

• Able to build positive relationships with pupils

• Reliable, professional and committed

• Able to work effectively as part of a team

• Willing to learn and develop within a school environment

• Experience supporting individuals with SEND or additional needs is advantageous but not essential

• Previous school experience is desirable but not essential
