Job summary

Vision for Education in Stockport is launching the National Teaching Assistant Programme to support those starting a Teaching Assistant career. The role is an Unqualified Teaching Assistant (full-time, temporary) in Stockport with weekly pay of £463–£500, starting September 2026.

Working with our client schools, you will receive high-quality on-the-job training and ongoing support from a dedicated consultant.

Qualifications

• Be able to build positive relationships with children and young people.
• Be passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people.
• Understand the crucial importance of keeping children and young people safe.
• Be able to demonstrate at interview the reasons for wanting a career in education and the role of a Teaching Assistant.
• Be committed to completing required training and ongoing CPD.
• Be willing to pay for an enhanced DBS check and register with the Update Service.
• Possess right to work in the UK and provide 2 references (one education/care).

Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher with behaviour management and interventions.
• Provide additional support to children with SEND as required.
• Contribute to the daily running of schools as part of the teaching team.

Unqualified Teaching Assistant(full time, temporary)

£463 - £500 per week (salary is dependent on experience and/or qualifications)

The Programme

• Working alongside our client schools, we will provide the successfulUnqualified Teaching Assistantwith high quality training and paid on the job experience.

• Following a successful interview and pending suitability, safeguarding and identity checks, we will work to secure you a paid placement in a school to further develop your skills, you will also receive ongoing support from a dedicated consultant.

The Role

• The role of a Unqualified Teaching Assistant is vital in the day-to-day running of schools. The best Teaching Assistants have excellent communication skills and are able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff, quickly and effectively.

• Depending on the role and the school, you will be working with the class teacher to manage behaviour, support with interventions, and provide additional support to children with SEND (special educational needs and disabilities).

Requirements
