Job summary

Uniform Education is seeking a Nursery Assistant to join our Early Years team in Oxfordshire. The role offers full-time or part-time hours with an ASAP or September start, and no formal childcare qualification is required for applicants with a genuine passion for working with young children.

You will support activities, help create a safe and engaging environment, and contribute to each child’s learning and development through play. DBS update and right-to-work in the UK are expected.

Qualifications

  • A genuine passion for working with young children.
  • Experience in a nursery, school, care, or voluntary setting is desirable.
  • Caring, patient and enthusiastic approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn and develop within an Early Years setting.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to Work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Support children aged 0-5 years with their learning, care, and development.
  • Assist with delivering engaging activities and play experiences.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Support children's social, emotional, physical, and communication development.
  • Assist with daily routines, including mealtimes, toileting, and transitions.
  • Observe children's progress and provide feedback to the nursery team.
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and nursery policies at all times.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

What We're Looking For
Essential:

  • Previous experience working with children is desirable, whether in a nursery, school, care, or voluntary setting

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to Work in the UK
Desirable:
  • Experience within a nursery or Early Years setting
  • Knowledge of the EYFS framework
  • Paediatric First Aid qualification
  • Interest in completing an Early Years or Childcare qualification
