Job summary

Access Computer Consulting plc seeks a Unix OS/Virtualisation Systems Engineer for a hybrid London/remote role. The engineer will install, configure, test and maintain UNIX/Linux systems, manage virtualization platforms, and support clustering with Red Hat and Veritas VCS.

Strong scripting with Shell, Python or Perl and automation using Ansible Tower and GitHub is required, along with solid TCP/IP and LDAP skills and an agile mindset.

Qualifications

• Experience installing, configuring, testing and maintaining UNIX/Linux OS.
• Experience with virtualization platforms including QEMU, KVM, Oracle VirtualBox, VxRail, VMware, OVM and OLVM.
• Cluster experience with Red Hat Cluster Suite and Veritas VCS.
• Familiarity with system monitoring and automation tooling.

Responsibilities

• Monitor server performance, resource utilisation, and network connectivity for peak availability.
• Write Shell, Python or Perl scripts to automate repetitive tasks.
• Support hybrid work setup with on-site and remote access while following SAFE/agile processes.

Job description

I am recruiting for a Unix OS/Virtualisation Systems Engineer to be based 2 days in London, 3 days remote.

The role falls inside IR35 so you will need to work through an umbrella company for the duration of the contract.

You must have experience of System Management including Install, configure, test, and maintain UNIX/Linux operating systems, system software, and hardware components.

You must also have experience of working in a SAFE/agile methodology environment.

You will have virtualisation platform experience including QEMU, KVM, Oracle VirtualBox, VxRail, VMware, OVM and OLVM.

Cluster experience such as Redhat cluster and VCS Clusters is required.

Expertise in Linux (RHEL/OL 7,8,9 and 10) (Solaris 10, 11).

Tools experience including Ansible Tower and GitHub.

You will be able to monitor server performance, resource utilisation, and network connectivity to guarantee peak availability.

You will be able to write Shell, Python or Perl scripts to automate repetitive system administration and deployment tasks.

Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SSH, and NFS/LDAP.
