Job summary

Nasmyth Henton Ltd in Hinckley, Leicestershire, is seeking a Universal Grinder. The role is full-time with 37 hours per week and shift patterns Monday to Thursday on a 2-shift rotation (06:00–15:45; 15:45–01:30).

Applicants should have apprenticeship training preferred and around five years’ experience operating Jones & Shipman universal grinders, Heald internal grinders and other grinding machinery, with ability to read drawings and inspect own work. On-site TPM and 5S compliance expected.

Qualifications

• Preferred apprentice trained.
• 5 years’ experience in grinding and machining.
• Experience with multiple grinding machines and reading drawings.

Responsibilities

• Machining components to production planning specifications.
• Set up and operate grinding machines and inspect own work.
• Adhere to 5S and TPM maintenance requirements.

Location: Nasmyth Henton Ltd, Faraday Road, Hinckley, Leicestershire, LE10 3DE

Job type: Full Time/Permanent

Salary: £17.27 ph plus a shift allowance of £581.54 pm. After a sucessful probation this will increase to £17.79 ph plus a shift allowance of £598.92 pm

Hours per week: 37 hrs per week

Start & finish times: Monday - Thursday x2 shift rotation
Week 1 - 06:00 - 15:45
Week 2 - 15:45 - 01:30

Job Purpose:

Machining components to production planning customer specifications.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Preferred apprentice trained.
• 5 years’ experience
• Jones and shipman universal grinding machines / Heald internal grinding machines/ring grinding machines / jones and shipman surface grinding machines.
• Working to customer specifications.
• Ability to read drawings / specifications.
• Setting and Operating
• Ability to use inspection equipment and inspect own work
• Working on own initiative.
• Updating basic maintenance on machines (T.P.M.)
• Setting sheets (sop) required.
• Working to 5s Standard in area.
• Safe handling of components, jigs and fixtures.
• Reporting to supervision.
