Job summary

Job Summary

We are looking for an organised and proactive Logistics Coordinator to join our team, supporting the coordination of UK and international shipments for machines, parts, and consumables.

This is a hands-on coordination role suited to someone with previous logistics, shipping and export experience who enjoys managing detail, problem-solving, and keeping things moving smoothly.

You’ll be working closely with internal teams, customers and external carriers to ensure shipments are planned, tracked, and delivered efficiently. Experience with international shipping and customs documentation essential.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate inbound and outbound deliveries across UK and international shipments
• Liaise with customers, couriers, and transport providers to arrange collections and deliveries
• Schedule deliveries to support production and operational requirements
• Monitor shipments and proactively resolve delays or delivery issues
• Maintain accurate shipment records, delivery notes, and tracking information
• Use internal systems (ERP/CRM/spreadsheets) to manage logistics data
• Support basic reporting on delivery status, performance, and issues
• Act as a key point of contact for day-to-day logistics queries
• Track shipments and investigate missing, delayed, or incorrect deliveries
• Escalate issues where appropriate and ensure timely resolution
• Support identification of process inefficiencies within logistics activities
• Contribute ideas for improving workflow and delivery performance
• Assist in maintaining and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Previous experience in a logistics, transport, or shipping coordination role
• Experience working with freight forwarders and customs brokers
• Good understanding of different freight modes (road, sea and air), their applications, and the associated shipping complexities
• Experience supporting UK, European, and international shipping (particularly USA), including documentation and carrier liaison
• Working knowledge of customs processes (e.g. import/export documentation, Incoterms, duties and VAT procedures)
• Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Confident using systems such as Excel and ERP/CRM/WMS platform
• Experience with containerised freight (20ft/40ft) and understanding of loading requirements
• Exposure to out-of-gauge (OOG) or abnormal loads
• Experience in machinery, engineering, or industrial manufacturing environment
