Markel's underwriting support team in London is seeking detail-oriented individuals to join the USS data-entry group. You will input policy information, help maintain data quality and support underwriting colleagues across multiple classes.

Qualifications

  • Computer literate with ability to understand in-house and Microsoft systems.
  • Experience in the insurance industry, Energy experience preferred but not essential.
  • Demonstrate consistently high-quality customer focus and service delivery.
  • Ability to work in a busy team with shifting priorities and cover for teammates.
  • Positive approach to change and willingness to participate in future projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data entry of insurance policy information into in-house systems to defined standards of accuracy and timeliness.
  • Develop broad class knowledge to support the centralised team and specialise in a specific class to become a main contact for underwriting.
  • Manage daily workflow and queries, liaising with line manager and underwriting team to support productivity targets.
  • Monitor data accuracy levels using QC reporting and dashboards.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with underwriting teams and attend meetings when required.
  • Engage with training opportunities and support Markel's progress with process optimisation, automation and AI initiatives.

The Opportunity

Underwriting Support Services (USS) is a centralised team based in our London Fenchurch Street office. We provide a high-quality, timely and accurate data capture and administrative support to our London Market underwriting teams. The team supports a broad range of classes of business, including Marine, Energy, Professional Liability, Cyber and Specialty lines. Our role is to ensure underwriting information is processed, uploaded and quality checked in line with agreed standards and service expectations. USS plays an important part in supporting efficient underwriting operations by managing insurance policy data, undertaking quality assurance activity and responding to technical and process queries from the business.

What You’ll Be Doing
