Job summary

First Central Insurance & Technology Group is seeking an Associate Underwriting MI Analyst in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will develop and maintain the Underwriting MI reporting suite, delivering timely insights to support business decisions.

You will work in a small team with hybrid working, mainly from home with monthly office days. A 2:1 numerical degree and strong analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Academic Background: 2:1 degree in a numerical discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Actuarial Science, Physics, Engineering, or related field.
• Analytical & problem-solving skills: strong numerical and analytical ability, with ability to interpret data and identify insights.
• Technical skills: Excel and SQL essential; Power BI or similar data visualisation desirable; Databricks advantageous.
• Data analysis & reporting: experience in data modelling, analysis and reporting, translating data into actionable insights.
• Attention to detail: high accuracy and robust analyses.
• Learning agility: proactive, quick to learn new tools and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the Underwriting MI reporting suite, creating new reports and improving existing ones.
• Publish BAU reports on a regular refresh schedule to support timely decisions.
• Perform ad-hoc analyses to address business challenges and surface opportunities.
• Create and maintain reporting and data models using Power BI, Databricks, SAS, SQL.
• Capture reporting requirements from stakeholders and ensure clear documentation.
• Uphold MI best practice and high-quality coding standards.
