Job summary

1st Central is seeking an Associate Underwriting MI Analyst in Haywards Heath, West Sussex on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will develop and maintain the Underwriting Performance Monitoring Suite of MI reports, enabling timely business decisions.

You'll work in a small, collaborative team, creating BI reports with Power BI, SQL and Databricks, emphasising accuracy, continuous improvement and clear storytelling from data.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2:1 degree in a numerical discipline.
• Strong numerical and analytical ability with data interpretation skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and SQL; Power BI experience desirable.
• Experience with data modelling, analysis and reporting.
• Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality analysis.
• Proactive, curious mindset with willingness to learn new tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the Underwriting Performance Monitoring Suite of MI reports.
• Produce BAU reports on a regular refresh schedule for timely decisions.
• Conduct ad-hoc performance analysis to surface issues or opportunities.
• Create and maintain reporting and data models using Power BI, Databricks, SAS, SQL.
• Capture reporting requirements from stakeholders and ensure clarity.
• Uphold MI best practice with change control and documentation.
• Ensure underwriting MI enables accurate business decision making.
